Old Ridge Route, Santa Clarita, CA Old Ridge Route, Santa Clarita, CA Travel along a chain of lakes in the wilderness behind Santa Clarita, taking time to discover the Old Ridge Route. Old Ridge Route is part of Californias history, dating back to the early 1900s. Originally connecting Los Angeles and Bakersfield, this route was built in 1915 and is credited with saving California from separating into two different states. Along the route you’ll see historical markers with charming old time photos of the old rest stops and cars. Rock wall foundations remain at the Sandberg Inn and Tumble Inn. The road is closed beyond the Tumble Inn because it slid out during heavy rains. The Ridge Route preservation society, an organization dedicated to opening the road holds a monthly volunteer workday. You can contact Harrison Scott at (866)262-7594 to volunteer or join. Craving a long off-road journey? On the way back from the Tumble Inn, take 7N23 back to Pine Canyon Rd. up and over the rolling hills through scenic majestic Oak trees. The road opens up to sweeping views of Pyramid Lake with its jewel-like islands. Afterwards, we recommend lunch at the Rock Inn roadhouse in Lake Hughes. View Old Ridge Route in a larger map
